NEWS ARCHIVE

For months everybody has been working toward this. We had hundreds of meetings, rehearsals and repetitions. And thousands and thousands of phone calls. And the result was there!

Ten thousand old and new Friends of War Child in Holland.
Great artists, whom all have performed free of charge.
A lot of and intriguing, hopeful and shattering movies, and clips and many very moving moments
 Unique musical combinations
And above all,  a great atmosphere!

Because this is, above all, what the Friends for War Child concert 2005 wanted to achieve: 'PEOPLE BUILDING PEACE!'

‘People Building Peace’ - Theme of the evening:
The concert’s theme ‘People Building Peace’ brings the message that EVERYBODY can contribute to peace anywhere on earth!  The theme was brought forward in many different ways during the concert. Peace does not start on a peace of paper, it is not a document between world leaders. Real Peace starts with yourself. In your heart! And this is exactly what we did during the concert. It was unforgettable!

Israel en Palestine together on Friends stage
We were very impressed by the presence of Noah and Meliss; the two directors of War Child’s partner NGO’s in Israel and Palestine. Noah (53) comes from Palestine and spent fifteen years of his life in prison. Now he runs an organisation for young people. This evening he went on stage together with Meliss from Peace Child in Israel. Together the stood, together they brought us a Message of Peace.

Noah told us how special it was that a country so far away from his own, spent time, effort, money and attention to invest in Peace, also in his own country. Meliss was thankful for the friendship she could have with Noah. In their countries it is unfortunately still the case that people hate each other just because of their ethnic backgrounds. These are two very strong people, who in our eyes are the Real Hero’s. They have built their lives around a strong longing for peace. Together with War Child Holland they are helping children who have never known the feeling of Peace.
