Some of the world's best-known music artists are spending time in the studio for a common cause: war-affected children. In Canada, the Netherlands and in the UK special Peace CD's will be brought out to support War Child. Artists have generously donated songs with timely messages of peace and hope. Some have re-recorded their own versions of classic songs about peace, while others have developed new compositions fitting with the theme and others have offered existing tracks.
A remarkable range of international talent have volunteered their voices to Peace Songs. Participating artists include David Bowie, George Michael, Paul McCartney, Ronan Keating, Moby, Avril Lavinge, Coldplay, Sheryl Crowe, Brian Adams, Leonard Cohen, Celine Dion, and Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens).
The national CD's will also include other famous musicians. In Canada: Jann Arden, Barenaked Ladies, Chantal Kreviazuk, Our Lady Peace and David Usher. In the Netherlands the CD will feature Marco Borsato, Acda & de Munnik, Trijntje Oosterhuis and Van Dik Hout.
Whatever the politics, whatever the rights or wrongs of war, children are always the innocent victims. I am delighted to be able to make this small contribution to this magnificent project. Sir Paul McCartney
